The Luther Burger

Two years ago I read in the news about a children’s dessert that was banned by the BBC food site that contained 1250 calories per slice and just knew I had to make it for myself.

Today I have eyed my last culinary conquest: The Luther Burger. Described as “possibly the world’s unhealthiest burger” and contains more than 1000 calories and over 45 grams of fat per portion. According to the myth the burger was a favourite of the man himself, Luther Vandross (peace be upon him).

In its least healthiest incarnation the burger consists of up to a full pound of minced beef, grilled onion, five slices of bacon, cheese and two Krispy Kreme donuts. Yes, donuts, which serve to replace the standard bread bun.

The donuts are my only concern about this one (not only the eating but purchasing Krispy Kremes easily in this country) but other than that, I’m positively salivating in anticipation, just need to put some time aside for it now.
